He wanted to retain his monopoly with his bridge, which includes the duty-free shops that he owns there.
If another bridge opened, there'd be less potential customers crossing his bridge. They probably pay tolls on his bridge as well, so those might reduce.
20 years of interference and retardation of their infrastructure all because of some elderly millionaire who I'm sure could live out the rest of his days happily on his own savings, but couldn't bear the thought that his profits might decrease.
I'm firmly of the belief that money acts on the mind the same way that highly addictive drugs do.
200 trucks an hour at $45 each is why he fought it as that is what it costs to cross his bridge it said in the video. Go do the maths on that.
