A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!
One can only assume these stores must make a substantial profit from tobacco and vapes, because by selling them they bring this on themselves.
Unless it has changed in the iast 50 years since I sold my shop, we didn't make anything on tobacco. A bit like petrol....... full of taxes, bugger all profit. Vapes could be different?
Getting people into the store was half the battle. Most people would buy a packet of fags and then a few sweets or a couple of ice creams for the kids. That's where the money is!

I saw 2 packs of tailor mades get sold at a supermarket the other week for $63 and for some people a few years ago that would have just been enough for one day
I was spending $450.00 fortnightly on ciggies when I gave up.
Just mental.
You might remember Arkwright in Open All Hours and the trouble he went to to get people into his shop. Although it was a comedy that was very true.
We, too, had a shop and my father used to say, "Just get them into the shop and I'll sell them anything."
But I feel for these people having their shop broken into. And I can understand why the thieves go for cigarettes - they can make a lot of money selling them because they are so expensive. You can blame the government for that with all the tax which was added to try to discourage people from smoking. But making cigarettes expensive has made them a targets for thieves.![]()
It is better to wear out than to rust out.

Us husbands are a sorry lot.
There's been a few places (like the one Service station here) that have installed the steel roller doors that they pull down at the end of the day to stop people breaking in as well as shatter proof glass. Talking to the owner he said after having several break-ins it was costing him to much. Even if the cigarettes are locked away its the other damage.
While having a closed off door at night wont stop them walking in during normal hours there's much less chance of that than ram-raids.
Yes. My son. He quit and started vaping but he smoked 2 x 25s a day. Minimum.
Would have killed him in no time, it was why he switched actually.

Its a price where its practically prohibition , we say what that does when it was tried for booze in the US
The people making money on ciggies are the gangs .
Theres a black market for them
Crims even doing illegal imports of container loads ciggies .
So, do we roll back the price ?
We are just making the poor/middle class smokers broke .
