Could be just the feeder, never tried off a flatbed.

Just looked at the scanner software you mentioned, it does have one good feature, allows you to email the Scan directly (well it opens your email client).

Yes and saves the pdf to where I tell it while Brother always defaulted to itself on me.
Old scanner is actually working better now than before when it had an irritating touch screen. It was in the shed on the way out !

Teh Microsoft Application can also select where you want them to go. If you click on the Show more on the left, its under the " Save Files to" Option

sure.. the multi page scan to file is the seller to me though.
Not a big issue in world view is it but a distraction all the same !

Update: put new inks in but no go. Put a query in to Brother and almost immediately they were on the case by email and phone.
Teamviewer was used to alter some settings and now the printer is usable by by-passing the lcd screen. Not worth fixing the hardware.
They ascertained that the printer was less than 4 years old ( may 25 2018) so a new one ( diff model) will arrive in a few weeks time to replace this one.
I said I was happy to have this one going as is but no... will see what arrives !

At least they are honoring the Warranty. Brother printers / Scanners come with a 4 year. "Sometimes" there's a known problem and they simply just sort it. Often you will find the previous model is now obsolete so you get the current model.
