exactly true
And thats the reason diseases we once had control of are on the rise again .
Should we allow those with TB to walk the streets , or lock them away until treated .
Should we say its OK to have yet another outbreak of German Measles because so many didnt vax
So either
1) everyone does whatever they want....
or 2) the MAJORITY take control of the situation to keep the MAJORITY safe . A few will be unhappy being told whats expected .
Succinctly put 1101.
It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche
People overseas are staring to disagree with those ideas about the many and the few.exactly true

Im not trying to be difficult it just comes naturally.
I think it was Bertrand Russell the philosopher that espoused this theory of functionalism, it doesn't seem to have got to NZ yet LOL.
Freedom of opinion and expression
Russell was a champion of freedom of opinion and an opponent of both censorship and indoctrination. In 1928, he wrote: "The fundamental argument for freedom of opinion is the doubtfulness of all our belief... when the State intervenes to ensure the indoctrination of some doctrine, it does so because there is no conclusive evidence in favour of that doctrine .. It is clear that thought is not free if the profession of certain opinions make it impossible to make a living.[205] In 1957, he wrote: "'Free thought' means thinking freely ... to be worthy of the name freethinker he must be free of two things: the force of tradition and the tyranny of his own passions."
People not getting the vaccine which does have a small attached risk, admittedly, is putting all the rest of us at risk of spreading the virus, a much greater risk to us all, surely this is obvious.
It's absolutely obvious that a small group of citizens putting the rest at risk because of some mad-cap theory or another has to be nipped in the bud.
There are lots of people overseas who have taken an anti-vax stand only to die of the virus, it's reported everyday. Much riskier to not get the vaccine than to risk catching the virus.

True. But they have been warned for the last 2 years .
Plenty of opportunities to return , they didnt untill too late . Dont complain if you didnt come home when the boarders were still open .
...protecting the many .
We wouldnt be having these discussions if it was TB or similar .

I didnt go any where, but yes most kiwis overseas have had plenty of time to come home. But I meant the worlds population are starting to get tired of the same speel from their govts, saying the same thing each time but nothing is getting better, more like they are getting worse. Numbers of sick exploding, and a large portion of unwell people who caught covid, their bodies couldnt cope and are dying or extremely sick. sad news all round.
I guess we are super lucky we are an island with a very large moat around us and its too far to swim![]()
