Default factory reset on an android phone

I'm thinking of giving my old (but still perfectly useable) Android phone to a needy friend. I'm planning to do a factory reset first, but is there anything else I need to think about?

First remove it from the list of devices owned by you held by Google. If you do not your password is rquied to reactivate it.

Ha! I was about to ask the same question. I looked on my Google DAshboar5d and the only hardware reference I could find was to my current phone.

If it is not there you should not have a problem. I sold a phone on TM a few years back and although I had done the Factory Reset bit the new owner could not use it until I went in and deleted it from the list of hardware held by Google. If you have never used it with your Google account I guess that does not apply.

So this is from the Google Dashboard, right? Can you give us a step-by step?

Go into your google account on your PC and under the security tab, scroll down to Your devices.

Mine shows my laptop, my Linux desktop and my J8 phone only.

Nice. I got a phone a couple of years back that acted like I needed to set it up, so when I did it had all the owners contacts on it.
