Default Have a nice day - not!

It's a saying imported from Yankee Land. I think it originated in New York.

I don't like being told to "have a nice day" or "enjoy your weekend." I'll have a nice day or enjoy my weekend if that's what I want to do. I don't like being told what sort of a day or weekend that I should have. I'll make up my own mind as to what sort of a day I will have. I don't need someone to tell me.

Take a week off bro. Go for long walks at sunset and maybe buy a dog.

You need to get out more Roscoe and stop worrying what Uncle Sam is doing.

    Have a good day.

Find your local Fresh Choice and buy some English beer, they have the best selection all the time.

It's a wish...hoping you have a nice day. The one I dislike is being told to smile.
Like 2 days after husband died....smile some twit told me.

I got caught out in the most embarrassing thing in my life she I said hello to a lady I used to see walking with her husband. She had a tall handsome young chap this particular time and me, being me, asked if she had traded the old man in on a younger one.

As you may have guessed, she said her husband had died 3 days ago and the young guy was her son from out of town here to bury his dad.

Geez, I wished the ground had opened up and swallowed me!

Holy Hell, have you seen her since, or are you still self isolating in the back room of your house?

Seriously? Would you not like to be asked if you are wished well and the wishes come from a genuine person who works for some crap outfit that pays them the minimum wage and has a family to support?

My pet hate is (and it is NZ based) -"how is your day going /been?" or "How are you?" Especially if it is voiced by a stranger or a cold call sales person.
My thoughts are "none of your business-I would tell you voluntarily if I wanted you to know"
I find it so insincere. Most people just mumble good, good or some other silly trite expression. You could reply - "horrible I've had some really bad medical news " and the first person will say "that's good" because their question was meaningless and they are not really listening to what you say in reply.
I prefer to just say hello or hi-not even "good morning" because you may be unaware that the other person is having anything but a good morning.

I do realise that for many people these are just robotic sayings.
