Forcing a Live linked a/c was a pain . Dont see why that needed to be compulsory when they give you the option to then go & convert
it to a local a/c .

On A Pro install you can bypass the M/S Account on installing.

One way I saw to get around the Forced Home Sign in, was to make up some "throw-away" account when 1st forced, then when it boots, create a second account as Admin that you really want to use ( with or without password) , then boot into that account and delete the previous throw away.

Haven't looked but I assume you can also convert to a local as per W10.

My Surface laptop said it was ready for install so I downloaded assistant. Got through to 70% installed and bombed out. Try again ..no call MS. Don't think so. Googled error message which advised ... run as admin. Installed and away. FYI

Thats what I did. Made a new local user account & deleted the original.
You can convert the initial/first account to local, but it still tries to sync that a/c's data with MS . I deleted it it to stop it syncing/downloading data from/to that a/c (assuming you dont want that a/c syncing )

You can also install without a key & leave it un-activated . :-)
