I agree and can hold a conversation in two other languages apart from English. Both were useful to me at the time but neither was Maori, Welsh or Gaelic none of which have been any requirement for me to survive in the world. Should that change so shall I.

Well if Iím going to learn a second language itís going to be Doric.

That way Iíll be able to understand a good mate who breaks into it when he gets a little excited.

Welsh and Gaelic are being learned by Welsh and Gaelic people which is not the same situation that we have. If Maori want to learn Maori that's fine with me, but I don't intend learning it myself, and have resistance to having it shoved down my throat as has been happening.

Makes me feel dizzy having to use new names for well-known places.
It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche
