Default Windows 10 not recognising external drives or flash drives

Windows 10 not recognising external drives or flash drives which work fine on other computers. Is there a simple fix?

fix allways depends on the actual cause
    Cause could be many things

test the USB port with a mouse
try rear USB ports , or front USB ports
remove ALL other USB devices except mouse
do you have any mapped drives (Win7 had a bug where if USB wanted to use mapped drive letter it wouldnt show )
disable power save on USB ports , in control panel, device manager
    format to NTFS
run cmd ,diskpart , list disk & see if they show there
    check usb port for damage
make sure you have correct USB3 drivers (shouldnt be an issue with 10)
Uninstall any AV . It may be blocking access
You may have a Group Policy blocking USB drives

try a NEW USB stick that hasnt been used in those other PC's
    Reset Win10 (last resort)

Is Win10 activated & not an insider version ?
