Never mind, sorted. I plugged the USB to USB3 port (blue), changed to the black USB2 port and it boots OK.

    Don't understand why it doesn't recognise USB3 ?

Its usually to do with the BIOS settings and how its being told to boot.

If you go into the BIOS when it starts, click Boot Menu, (or press F8) Then you will see there's two entries for the USB Drive, one will have UEFI in front of it - select that. Works most of the time, then again some boards simply don't like USB3 and booting. Also found that Some USB Drives will boot perfectly fine from USB while others wont.

As Wainui said, probably has to do with boot order and there are some mobo's that will initialise the legacy USB2.0 ports first before anything else.

you can also sometimes hold a key to launch a boot menu and select the drive from the list if it's there. Think it's F12 on my BIOS. Temporary option that's easier than changing the boot settings for a one time boot.

My problem was, the MB doesn't read the USB boot disk when I initially plugged it to the USB3 port (blue colour); it reads OK when plugged to the USB2 (black colour) port.

    Anyway, got it sorted.

    Thanks for all the inputs.
