    Comparing specific energy:
    Nickel/Iron 19-25 Wh/kg
    Aluminium/Air 1300 (practical), 6000/8000 (theoretical) Wh/kg
And both have nominal cell voltage of 1.2 V
These figures are from Wikipedia. Make of that what you will.

    Interesting Dave.

I cut my teeth on Plant’e and Faure cells (and have dealt with a lot of others in-between times) and the only thing I am absolutely sure of is they will all give you trouble at the most inappropriate time.

And of course the more technical they are, the less robust.

I could wear Hybrid Cars, as a mate had a Mitsubishi Hybrid that was excellent, until the battery failed and the cost of a new battery exceeded the value of the car.

In the meantime, I’ll stick with Nickel – Iron, only because if they worked 120yrs ago, with a few refinements they will bury the rest of them.

The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are now outnumbered by those who vote for a living.

I don't imagine for a minute that what I suggested will come to pass.
Cars and other light vehicles wouldn't need such a system.
Heavy vehicles will probably remain diesel-powered for some time yet.

I see Genisis electricity have just launched an Etruck in Christchurch with a 7.5T load rating and range of 100-150Km.

However despite James Shaw being at the launch yet again no mention of the carbon and rare minerals in its making, we could supposedly get carbon neutral here only because we don't make the vehicles here so are just shifting the carbon used to somewhere else.

And we will probably be using Indonesian coal to generate the electricity to sharge it up anyway.

the article is inaccurate and the errors have been fixed and reposted.
the truck is 7.5ton gvm not load. its only 3.5 ton load. there is a derated version, 6 ton gvm with 2 ton load.
typical 6 ton truck usually takes ~3 ton load.

of course the big downside is range. not sure how they get the 100-150km, that may be variations due to road conditions hills etc.
but no doubt thats when its empty. for max weight distance, thats something most ev crowds won't tell you.
so really its only good for around town.
    Tweak it till it breaks
