    Default Firefox 89 and omnibox

Firefox ver 89.0 has introduced the 'omnibox' don't quite like it. It combines the good old Google search box with the URL address bar.

Is there a way to disable it?

    Try:

    about:config

    browser.proton.enabled

Double-click it and it will instantly apply.

    And discussion here:

    about:config

    Then search for:

    handoffToAwesomebar

and change the setting to false.

    and

about:config toggle `browser.proton.enabled` to false it will revert back to the old Photon style.

Right click an empty portion of the tab bar, and select Customise Toolbar

Then from the customisation window, drag the Search item into the toolbar, wherever you want to place it.

Alternatively, you can go to Settings -> Search, and change the search bar option.

I see what you mean with this latest update, I dont like it either

    heres the fix
tools, settings, search : "add search bar in toolbar"
this will put the google search in a separate spot across from the adress bar, where it used to be (for me)

I dont know why FF keeps making changes that no one asked for and no one wanted
Many people dont want change, thats why we stick with FF .

If FF keeps making changes like this ( and like the changes with bookmarks ) , why would we not think : OK dont like it, so now no reason not to go to Chrome/Edge
We arnt using chrome/edge because we dont want change , so why is FF so making these changes ?

    But some do.
If you don't want change, then untick Auto update and don't update it.
    Your choice.
