    Default Too many crashes

I am getting too many system crashes with my gaming system.
The screens go blank, audio continues for maybe 20 seconds, cooling fans go to max & it stays like that until I force a restart.
Itís not overheating & everything is up to date.
System had been running perfectly until the 20H2 update.

Event viewer shows the latest error as below.

Faulting application name: amtrucks.exe, version: 1.40.0.224, time stamp: 0x6058d8df
Faulting module name: d3d11.dll, version: 10.0.19041.746, time stamp: 0xfc177b9d
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00000000001298a0
    Faulting process id: 0x12ec
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d7364e5e6ffced
Faulting application path: D:\Games\steamapps\common\American Truck Simulator\bin\win_x64\amtrucks.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\d3d11.dll
    Report Id: 834c5c07-2023-4032-a16c-88dfdd1b8696
    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:

A google search shows (Faulting module name: d3d11.dll) is not uncommon.
I am currently wading through all the post re this, hoping to find a solution.

Your American Truck Simulator looks to be causing the problem, generally with Graphics.

How old is it ?? And how old are the graphic Drivers.

Run SFC /scannow to check the state of your DirectX install. If nothing untoward is found you can trying re-installing using the DirectX redistributable which you can find here

    Update your graphics card drivers.

    Asus PRIME Z370-P
    Core i7-8700K @ 5GHz
    Corsair Hydro H100x
    32GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz
    Intel 660P 512GB M.2 NVMe
    Crucial P1 1TB M.2 NVMe
    Gigabyte RTX 2060 OC
    Corsair Crystal 460X

That particular crash was with American Truck Sim, but are also getting it in European Truck Sim & Bus Sim 18.

The current Graphics driver is 466.11 for GeForce RTX 2080 Super.

DirectX is version 12, will try re-install.

Also try launching the game using OpenGL it may prove to be more forgiving...

I will try that but I don't think think this is graphics issue, unless I have a hardware problem.

    System is:
    Intel i7-10700k
    Asus Tuf Z490 Plus
    Corsair 32GB DDR4 3200
    Asus GeForce RTX 2080 Super

It's not a graphics issue... it's an issue with the Direct X APIs specifically the Direct X 11 module: d3d11.dll.

So it's an issue with the game itself rather than a graphics driver or hardware problem.

    In the report, it lists

    Faulting module name: d3d11.dll,
    Exception code: 0xc0000005

d3d11.dll is related to DirectX. directX is used in graphics (simple version of explaining) Technical explanation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_JkkqQ9qAg Warning its

( this is in simple nontech language)
If you look at almost of the crashes world wide, various forums, relating to this, the same .dll & Exception Codes go hand in hand.

If its only crashing while playing games ( and 99% are game related), then the games are obviously using more Graphics than other type of tasks, Browsing, documents etc.

There have been some suggestions that work or at least test, all the following are Quotes from various sources, in no particular order.

*The D3D11.dll file is part of the DirectX11 distribution and is regularly utilized by games and applications that require a lot of graphical processing.

    * if d3d11.dll causing problem check lastest GPU drivers and dx12 compatibility (...if no, buy compatible GPU card)

*i have the same problems, but if a switch to the integrated intel card i can use for several hours without crashes (and constant 10/12 fps)

    * I did a clean install of win 10. It did not help. Then I found the error in event viewer is about d3d11.dll. I bought another video card that supports dx12. Now it finally works.
Some have removed the Graphic Card and tested with onboard graphics - While no where as good problem disappeared. (mentioned several times.)

Some have run the various standard Scans,
    *sfc /scannow
    *Chkdsk
    *dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

tested Hardware -- Burnin tests, memtest

Problem fixed, others made no difference.

There are hundreds of Posts all saying the same thing, with MANY different games going back years --- d3d11.dll Crashing Error code 0xc0000005 So its not just one game or Operating system.
