    Default Microsoft Account. Win10

This old Win10 laptop of mine keeps on nagging at me to sign in to Microsoft Account! But I don't want to use the MS account, I am happy with my local account.

How do I stop it from nagging at me?

That shouldnt be happening very often at all . MS will try to push you on to that, so may be occasional prompts for it

Windows might be linked to your MS Account in some way ?
Go to settings, accounts, and see if your MS Account has been added in there anywhere

It is my Local Account, Administrator. no MS Account shown.

"Windows is better when your settings and files automatically sync.
Use a Microsoft account to easily get all your stuff on all your devices.

Sign in with a Microsoft account instead. "

Just noticed that under my local account Name, there is a 'Sign In ' button.

If I click the sign in button, a windows pops out, asking me to sign in to Microsoft : Email, phone, or Skype. No account: Create one! .
Sign in with a security key ... Next

When I click Next, it complains that I need to fill in Email, phone or Skype...

I must have done something not quite right when installing Win 10. I hardly use this laptop. Most of the time, when I turn it ON, it nags me to sign in to MS Account...

Any other thing I can do to correct the above other than a fresh reinstall of Win10? LOL

Theres one possible solution-- Give it what it wants.

Heres How -- As long as you are using a local account already, make sure you have a Microsoft account (email) get one from Outlook.com if you want something that may be useful.

Then when it pops up, especially if its some app wanting the account, sign in BUT click on Microsoft Apps only ( see Picture) This should stop the prompts.

You'll still have your Local account to use as normal but not sign in with a MS account.

The BIGGEST catch is DONT just go next , next , next without looking at what you are agreeing to (seen it happen countless times) then people wonder why all of a sudden things have changed and Blame Microsoft, Its only doing what its been told to do which was the changes.

Bit like installing / upgrading programs, NEVER use the default(recommend) settings if there's a Custom / Advanced option. Its amazing what crap some try to install.

You can also have a look to see what's prompting.

On The search type in and open Credential Manager Select Windows Credentials, Scroll down to Generic Credentials, something there should be the cause, you can remove it by clicking the Down Arrow on the right, remove, BUT as soon as you do that, the next time what ever it is asking is used, it will prompt again.
