Computer re boots about 6 times a day saying "You device ran into a problem to fix the problem and now will reboot." What could be causing something like this?

its caused by "the problem" :-)

Need more info. Thats a very generic message.
did it display a 'stop' number , or any other info on the message ?

Look in the windows log files , you'll see more info in there

Perhaps downloading windows update and failing to install correctly, then rebooting and trying over and over again is my guess.

Type "winver" into search box in the task bar without the " " and post back the answer here.

Look in Device Manager and see if there are any '?', question marks. If so see what they relate to and post back.

It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

Check temperatures of the CPU and GPU. Overheating can cause random reboots. Happened to me a few weeks ago. Turned out the GPU heatsink was clogged with dust.
