Default 70mai Dashcam Pro with GPS

    Any 70mai Dashcam users here?

My 70mai Dashcam with GPS arrived just before Christmas (ordered from another seller).

Installation and Setting up is quite straightforward... Works OK , other than, I notice that it is recording many videos without any input from me. Every time when I came back from even a short trip, it records about 10 videos.. I didn't ask it to record any. Anyone here can enlighten me on the above.

    Cheers.

Some are while driving and some when parked.

Just went out to check the recordings, it records almost every minute when I made a 10 min short trip.

It even records when it's parked in my garage.

    Some settings must be wrong?

I donít have the GPS version, hm but have a 70mai camera. They do record all the time. Iíve never known a camera that doesnít.

Mine is voice activated and you can tell at it to save an event. But generally itís always while the car is running. If something happens the you note the time or tell at it to take a picture so you have a time stamp

Oh whenparked? How are you powering it? Mine is cigarette lighter.

If full time powered you might need to look for motion settings.

as above. usually they are plug in so they switch off when parked. check the cig outlet turns off when you remove the keys, some do not. if you want to use it when parked it pays to use an 2nd battery or battery monitor so it doesn't flatten the car battery.

there is two main ways to use dash cams. either full time recording or even recording. a lot of cameras will do both.
full time is best for recording driving but needs big card and can be a pain to find video of what happened later.
event recording needs someway of triggering it, either motion or impact. typically used for recording while parked. makes it easy to find footage of someone backing into your car.
    Tweak it till it breaks

Anyway, have reset to default settings. Will need to reconfigure it.
Using the cigarette lighter... Apparently, it has a built in battery.

Have removed it from the car.
Can I just use another USB cable or I need to use the original cable? If so, I will need to remove the cable, too.

they have built in battery but should still power off when you remove power. the battery is usually to make sure it gets shut down properly when car is turned off, and maintain settings etc.

Reconfigured it using the built-in battery. Mounted it back to the car.

I never used a Dashcam and this is my very first one.

So, they are designed to do the recording and the car is running and there's nothing wrong with it! I was over reacting!!??

I noticed that those recordings are stored in the 'Normal' folder, nothing in the 'Event' and 'Parking' folder, and there are a few in the 'Photo' folder which I did ask it to take photos.

May I assume that it is NORMAL? That's the way it functions!

    Thanks, psycik.
