Black Friday originated in America and its meaning refers to the day after the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, which has also traditionally been a holiday itself for many employees. It is typically a day full of special shopping deals and heavy discounts and is considered as the kickoff of the holiday shopping season.
As opposed to any Friday the 13th which is called that in support of our pagan gods.Black Friday originated in America and its meaning refers to the day after the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, which has also traditionally been a holiday itself for many employees. Xmas & Easter are a nod to our ancient pagan gods . The halo over Jesus's head in paintings is a nod to the Sun god .
We support the pagan gods by celebrating those days, less relevent to modern NZ than US holidays
Why does NZ have a labour day holiday ?
"Labour Day commemorates the struggle for an eight-hour working day" wiki
NZ has totally abandoned the 8 hour day & the 40 hour week, so why have a holiday for something NZ no longer has.
Pehaps have a holiday in recognition for 7 day 60-100 hour working weeks and families living in cars![]()

So what has that got to do with us? We don't have a Thanksgiving holiday - I don't even know what that is - so why do we have a Black Friday when we don't have Thanksgiving and we are not American?
