A pronunciation question

How do you write a word when you want to tell the reader how to pronounce it? For example, the word blessed. You can say that you are blessed with a lovely family, or you can speak about the blessed virgin. In the second example blessed is pronounced bless-ed. The first example has one syllable whereas the second example has two syllables. So how do you write it so that the reader knows which blessed you mean?

When blessed is used as a verb, it is pronounced with one syllable (blest). Example: Before we ate, our uncle Tony blessed [blest] the meal. Rule 2. When the word blessed is used as part of an adverb (blessedly) or a noun (blessedness), it is pronounced with two syllables (bles-id).

If you wanted to describe the pronunciation exactly, as in a dictionary.

Otherwise, you leave the spelling alone and the reader picks up the meaning from the context, assuming you've written well enough to convey that.

Then it's up to them to refer to the dictionary if they have any questions regarding its pronunciation.
