Please , for the Love of God

unless you have a damn good reason (ie testing )
dont race in & install YET ANOTHER windows build .

WAIT 2 weeks untill its fully tested in the wild & proven to be bug free
they still havnt fixed all the bugs in v1909

You may be OK to install it, or you maybe one of the few who gets stuck with unfixed weird new bugs
its not a race , just wait a few weeks

You do realize that 1909 is over a year old ?? There have been fixes installed since then. This particular version has been out in the Insider builds for some time now. This 2009 is build number 19042.572 Upgraded from 19041.572, its only a minor upgrade, with some fixes and a couple of minor changes which most wont even know about.

In Insider / testing builds are currently 20236.1005. To Say these have not been tested is utter Bull.

Hell I got PC's still coming in with Windows 7 that are still buggy as, so how much longer do you suggest people have to wait for those fixes ?

    short memory :-)

every time.... a new build comes out
people RUSH to download & install it
then some (not all) have alot of issues due to bugs . Every time.

unless there is a good reason to install it,,,,
    its not a race
dont be the beta tester for MS
wait till its KNOWN to be bug free .
    wait 2 or 3 weeks

Released to insiders some time back means nothing.
That hasnt stopped SERIOUS issues with updates in the past, even after the issues were reported by insiders then ignored by MS (cough cough update deletes ondrive files )

Kind of true but also false.

You mention that 1909 has unfixed bugs -- So how long do you wait till they are fixed ??

Since that's over a year since being put out, and there have been many updates and fix's already installed, again how long do you wait ??? Two weeks is the old gone date, which doesn't support any 1909 yet to be fixed (over a year)

Lets say the fixes never come, by May 11, 2021 1909 will be end of support, so it would never have the fixes. And for the previous edition 1903 will reach the end of service on December 8, 2020.

AGAIN --- I mentioned W7 has unfixed bugs.

Normally good advice, but in the case of Win10 it was launched over 5 Years ago and still not fixed.

It appears a prerequisite of using it is you need to have the “Patience of Job”.

Ya know all OS's give problems and have bugs, W7 still has unfixed bugs, as well as Linux (see link for mint20 in the post by piroska). Then at the end of the mint known Faults list is a link to others since mint is based on Ubuntu.

    They state
As is to be expected, with any release, there are some significant known bugs that users may run into with this release of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. The ones we know about at this point (and some of the workarounds), are documented here so you don't need to spend time reporting these bugs again:
    So nothing is perfect.

So with that in mind, changed 9 computers to 2009 since yesterday and not a single problem, 5 laptops and 4 desktops.

    Just a hint of paranoia?

Waiting two weeks won't guarantee an update is bug free - a problem may depend on exactly what you do with your PC or might involve a slightly different interaction with an existing bit of software. Life is risky, and we have to trust someone.

I have got into the habit of running Windows System File Check (SFC) before and after installing updates. Mostly, everything is OK, but occasionally it isn't and some corruption is detected and fixed. Running SFC before increases the likelihood of a trouble-free installation; running after reduces the chance of an error creeping in and causing trouble further down the line. By how much, I don't know, but a little caution won't do any harm, and I can't recall any major problem resulting from a Windows update.

In fact, with modern computers dealing with terabytes of storage, gigabytes of RAM and flipping bytes on and off at gigahertz speeds for hours on end, it never ceases to amaze me that our PCs work at all. The people who supply the hardware and software must be doing something right.

Just adding, if its upgraded via Windows update its nothing more than a Standard cumulative update. There is no Windows.old folder as per other upgrades. That's only included if you use the media Creation tool.
