    Default Google Earth

Years ago I used to be able to enter co-ordinates into Google Earth and it would take me to that place.

However, I can’t find, or remember, how it was done.

    Anyone know?

    For anyone interested I want to go to 29° 57’ 25” S - 159° 04’ 32’’ E to look at the satellite view.

And, for a bit of fun, where is it I want to go?

God knows why you want to go there, and we won't ask. It looks like an uninhabited atoll north of Lord Howe.

Using Google Earth on my Android, I just entered the coordinates in the search bar exactly as you gave them. Good luck.

    Well done Wal.

It’s a little known fishing spot, but not for the faint hearted.

Hence my wish to look before I leap.

Well, there is something wrong with my Google Earth, because it wont accept co-ordinates.

Ok BM, here we go ... I downloaded Google Earth on my PC so we could talk the same language.

    1. Convert the coordinates to decimals ... here's a good app to do this Convert Lat and Long to decimals Click HERE

    29° 57’ 25” S - 159° 04’ 32’’ E will convert to -29.9569444 159.0755556

    2. Enter the decimal values in Google Earth search. Be sure to enter a minus value for the south latitude otherwise you'll end up in the China Sea somewhere

    3. Here's the global positioning image

Your atoll is due North of Lord Howe

    5. Watch the rocks, and go fishing; good luck

    6. PM me for my address to courier me some of the catch

Yep Wal found mine which agrees.

Mine is actually an XL spreadsheet that I've put together over a number of years from various sources.

The bottom line shows what's included.

The actual place in named "Elizabeth Reef" and has been the resting place for many vessels over many years.

However, the venture looks unlikely given the shortage of Petrol Stations along the way and the distance from Mooloolaba being 371NM

Even if we had enough fuel to get there, there is the small matter of getting back.

    Further investigation is needed.
