Old chestnut - "Problem ejecting USB mass storage".

This problem has only just begun in the last two weeks for me. Has anyone been able to find a simple solution to the above problem? I find that the really only way I know is to close the PC down and restart it.

Any idea what causes this problem? Windows 10 Professional.

or....yank it out. Yes it can corrupt files, but if you already moved them.....

Right click on the drive in the file manager, and select 'eject'
or
Log out, then log in again.

Is this after writing to it , or sending/coping files to it ?

Buy a new , FASTER usb stick
disable power save on USB ports
Use a USB3 port if you have one , or at least USB2
make sure its set for 'quick removal'
see if anything else such as AV is accessing it

Thanks 1101. USB2s' were already disabled but USB3s' were not. I'll now see if that makes a difference.

Disabled the power save and now I have no problems, thank you.
