The reason I said this is because it's not the government that I worry about, its the fact that there's a group who are targeting it and/or have already broken into it. Only time will tell.
It's only spyware if it can report back somewhere. For instance My printer isn't on the network, never mind the net.
Remember the entire internet is a public noticeboard and everything that passes though it.

SOME printer drivers phone home with info about what & when youve been printing. This first happened(or first detected) many years ago, and was back then labled spyware & treated as
no better than any other malware . Things have changed, its accepted as the norm now.
Even TV's have been caught recording conversions and that info was sent off to 3rd parties

But its usually govt employees using this info , illegally . Thats happened quite a few times in NZ
