It all seems a bit pointless when the powers that be do not bother testing 2/3 of the people involved with meeting, greeting, transporting and guarding those persons entering the country and being secured in quarantine. The workers still go home at the end of each shift and carry on life as normal.
There is no way we can keep the virus out of the country on a permanent basis and if we could for a few years it would likely wipe out a fair percentage of the population when it did finally get here as we would have no immunity to it whatever.
As things currently stand you are far far more likely to die in a vehicle accident on the way to buy groceries than be killed by corona 19.
By all means we should take particular care of hygiene exercise social distancing etc. but forget thinking you can avoid exposure forever.
I for one have no intention of spending the rest of my life hiding under the bed.
Keep in mind that the news media are only interested in reporting sensational disaster type stuff and are very selective in what they report, if it does not suit the narrative it is ignored.
Politicians of all parties will say whatever they think will get them votes and have a great interest in keeping us all frightened and believing that only they can save us.
Just as aside I know a few people who have lost their jobs and income and will also probably end up losing their homes due to lockdowns stuffing the economy. I even know of a couple of suicides. I have yet to see or meet anyone who has seen a person with Covid 19.
It does make the upcoming election a little more interesting than most. It is in the current governments interest to hold the election soon before the economy tanks much more and the opposition would do a lot better with a fair bit of a delay when they will claim to be able to get us back to work.
