It all seems a bit pointless when the powers that be do not bother testing 2/3 of the people involved with meeting, greeting, transporting and guarding those persons entering the country and being secured in quarantine. The workers still go home at the end of each shift and carry on life as normal.
There is no way we can keep the virus out of the country on a permanent basis and if we could for a few years it would likely wipe out a fair percentage of the population when it did finally get here as we would have no immunity to it whatever.
As things currently stand you are far far more likely to die in a vehicle accident on the way to buy groceries than be killed by corona 19.
By all means we should take particular care of hygiene exercise social distancing etc. but forget thinking you can avoid exposure forever.
I for one have no intention of spending the rest of my life hiding under the bed.
Keep in mind that the news media are only interested in reporting sensational disaster type stuff and are very selective in what they report, if it does not suit the narrative it is ignored.
Politicians of all parties will say whatever they think will get them votes and have a great interest in keeping us all frightened and believing that only they can save us.
Just as aside I know a few people who have lost their jobs and income and will also probably end up losing their homes due to lockdowns stuffing the economy. I even know of a couple of suicides. I have yet to see or meet anyone who has seen a person with Covid 19.
It does make the upcoming election a little more interesting than most. It is in the current governments interest to hold the election soon before the economy tanks much more and the opposition would do a lot better with a fair bit of a delay when they will claim to be able to get us back to work.

It was only a few weeks back that National were jumping up and down insisting that the boarders open Sooner, allow more people in etc, IF that had happened we would be in a a hell of a position now, way worse off than current.

NOW National are turning face and saying the boarder should have been more secure -- Make their damn minds up. They change what they they say to suit at the time
Judith Collins has lashed the Government for failing to run a secure border, saying it will be a key plank of Nationalís election campaign.

Yep, a certain amount of vote hunting going on with both of them....Nothing new, they contradict themselves frequently.

    OK

Not my opinion, look at the opinions of people who tried the covid tracking app. Its got so many bad ratings (Android version).
Too many trying it then giving up & uninstalling it out of frustration .

I can understand that in the rush to get it out there will be issues to work out, but has been plenty of time now. Its a fail if a significant majority of NZ dont use it
I havnt seen anyone stop & scan a code on the way into supermarkets & shops (Im sure a few do, but most dont).

The only time Ive scanned a code was where it compulsory in order to be allowed entry . Optional doesnt work , people wont bother .

Yeah your right, but its really funny how they say one thing one week and then change their minds the next because the previous comment / Actions would have been disastrous. Sure both parties change their comments sometimes. Collins is not impressed (and probably frustrated) because Jacinda is not playing the game how she wants it to be.

But at least they are not like that idiot Trump who says one thing then in the next breath denies saying it at all.

On the Funny side, saw the Headline on Stuff today, REALLY ?? their country is in a mess and all the idiots worried about his hair

Anti lockdown protests have started in NZ, just like in America

    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/the-count...ectid=12356393

When (if) we get a vaccine, all the anti vaxers will come out of the closet and start protesting that as well.

Polytech tutor telling students that Bill gates came to NZ & planned with Jacinda to depopulate NZ (& the world )
    allegedly

This is from a tutor, someone supposedly educated to a higher level . Spreading that Gates & Covid conspiracy nonsense .
