Do I have reason for complaint?

Recently I relocated down the road to a flat section and a house without stairs.

Vodafone was the ISP and all I wanted was the same package transferred to my new address.

The transfer was arranged for 8th June and all was well.

Then the trouble started.

I got an e-mail advising that the transfer would take place on the 3rd. So I had to get hold of Vodafone and explain that I didn’t take possession until the 8th and I didn’t wish to be disconnected before the 8th and figured the other party probably didn’t want to be either.

I won’t bore you with all the details that followed but the fibre that was supposed to be up to the house stopped at the end of the drive and it is copper up the drive. This necessitated a new Modem and then Chorus had to make some adjustment to the wiring where it enters the house and on and on it goes.

Anyway, after ten days without phone or internet and multiple calls to India we’re connected.

It was running a bit slow last night so I thought I’d do a speed test and look at the startling results.




So, I tried again early this morning and look how it’s improved.

Certainly something wrong there, one thing thats "Odd" is the language you have on the bottom right of the speedtest, what the hell is that ?? its certainly not English ( which it should be) . Its possible there is an underlaying problem with the computer as well. Test again on another computer if you are able.

General Speed overall has dropped, more people working from home etc, But there's something wrong with B.M's connection.

The Speed test is not very accurate these days, as an example With my Connection I'm meant to be getting up to 900mbps, doing a speed test it maxes out at about 250-350 But if I use a Download manager I can bring through files at close to the max allowed 800-900mbps.

Wainui: I haven't got another computer to test it on at the moment (shifting house takes time and getting one going was challenge enough ) but thought I try a speedtest with Chorus seeing they are local.

Remember my "Plan" is 100/20, (well that's what I'm paying for) and this is midday on a Saturday.

Speed tests can be highly inaccurate.

Just did one now, came through at 131mbps, downloaded a Linux ISO from Canterbury Via a Downloaded manager, ( its a good size ISO to test connections) started off slow, then all of a sudden jumped - Then after that did a speed test again all of a sudden 795mbps



But YES there's something wrong with your connection, at 100/20 you "should" on average be getting at lease 60-80.

Did you have fibre at your last place or just DSL?
I am trying to figure out why the big speed drop at your new place.
What make and model of Modem do you have at your new place, is it connected to an ONT?
