    Smile Internet Security Suite

    Hi guys.
    I've been using Comodo Internet Security since at lest my XP days & have always found it good.
    It used to rank highly, but looking at it today, no so now.
    I had my computer guy around & he said its not so good & had to remove off some systems.
    I like it because its a full security suite.
    Can yous recommend a really good freeby suite as we on the pension & finding it tough.

    Free = NO

    Most of the free ones these days act more like malware, wanting payments to upgrade to a "better version" of the same program.

    Doesn't Windows come with these types of software built in now? I would just use that since you get what you pay for and people are more likely to update their windows than their security suite definition and even that is pushing it.

    Nothing "wrong" with Windows Defender for the "average" user.

    Having said that, if you are "serious" about security and want peace of mind... paid is the way to go.

    At the very least get a good anti-virus such as ESET NOD32 but if you want the full suite then ESET Internet Security will get the job done.

    Of course you can choose any product you prefer.... I am just a big fan of ESET's products as they are rock solid and have a minimal footprint compared to others.

    Ryzen 5 5600X
    Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro Wi-fi
    Corsair Hydro H100x
    32GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz
    WD 512GB M.2 PCI-E 4 NVMe
    WD 1TB M.2 PCI-E 4 NVMe
    Gigabyte Aorus RTX 3070 Ti Master
    Corsair 4000D Airflow
    Corsair RMx 850W

    This is good advice. I was to lazy to type it out myself.

    +1

    have to agree with this, and I would also be hesitant in relying on rankings.....

    Generally, the full internet security 'suites' are more trouble than they are worth . And really ARNT needed.
    All you need is a good AV

    Win defender is very basic . It wont scan emails (as many pay AV's do)
    NOD32 will scan emails, and will block websites known to have security issues.
    Nod is also very reliable , and rarely causes issues.

    If you want free , Bitdefender Free is good , but has been giving me a few false positives lately ( marking some pdf downloads as a threat & blocking it)
    Bitdefender Free has a very basic interface though , its not really user configurable

    Avoid all the other free AV's , they tend to bombard you with popups trying to sell uneeded addons and will install unwanted stuff
    free = bloated crapware

    For the love of God, stay away from anything McAfee!!!

    If you're dead set against spending any money then just stick with Windows Defender.... it is much "better" than anything McAfee branded.

    Thats a VERY polite way of putting it. And as its been mentioned the inbuilt Windows Defender in W10 is better than many of the Free others. An upside its 100% compatible.

    McAfee is worse than Malware. It should be called Crap-afee

    About the only good thing about McAfee is the video John McAfee made after his company was sold. ( most techs and some users have seen this and MANY agree)
