Default Watta Clever remote controlled mains switch

That should be Watts Clever - my typing is getting worse and worse. Why can't I change the thread title as original poster? That would be sooo useful.

Has anyone owned/used one of these? They are two part unit - one plugs into the wall with a device plugged into it and the other is a remote on/off switch. I've had one for years but it has started being temperamental. First it would switch on but not switch off, and now it switches on and then after a couple of secs switches itself off - a bit of a PITA.

I tried a new battery - made no difference.

The Watts Clever website doesn't list them any more so I'm guessing it has been discontinued.

Can anyone suggest a fix or a replacement?

    TIA

Bought one last week to control a USB powered Bluetooth transmitter connected to my TV for my headphones.

That's exactly the one I was looking at if I can't revive the one I have.

Great ideas, but this is for my workshop, and I don't want to have to mess with technology to turn on my dust extractor. Something I can just pick up and press is all I need.

Understand, as I do stuff in my workshop too, with heaps of power tools, but need a auto way tb boil a simple jug of water for coffee, when in workshop. Seem to prolong or forget these days to manually boil a jug when busy.

Picked up the unit from Jaycar today. All seems to work OK.
Not so impressed with Jaycar click and collect though. Did the online order and paid first thing this morning. The website said (a) it would be ready in an hour and (b) I'd get an email advising me it was ready. Never got the email. Went into Jaycar about midday and they didn't have anything ready and went and got a unit of the shelf. Gave me a garbled explanation as to why I didn't get the email. When I got home there was an email from Jaycar timed after I'd picked it up, telling me it was ready for collection. Not impressed.
