    Default Printer Problem

    [B][B][B]Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.

I recently had cause to download and reinstall my all-in-one printer
driver software package (Lexmark 2400 series).
I am able to print from file but am unable to use any of the other tools
such as Scanner, Photo Editor, Copy Document etc. If I try these
the prog runs a 'first use' system scan but hangs forever on a folder
on the local disk (C drive labelled "Disregard" and makes no progress.

Opening the Disregard folder (12.8GB) shows sequentially multiple
other folders including USERS, APP DATA,PROG FILES, Win SYS32
none of which can be opened. What is it? It has been on the system
since June 2019 without causing concern but is now causing the
printer prog to crash during the scan process as it cannot proceed.

I have tried to delete the folder but Windows Explorer crashes and
restarts. Maybe it is part of the system and not to be tampered with?
Anybody know what this 'Disregard' folder is?

Why did you "need" to download it gain?
Uninstall the entire thing. Make sure no duplicate installs exist either and remove them as well.
Start over, do not connect the printer until the install software directs you to.

The reason for reinstalling the drivers was because I did a fresh reinstall
of win7 (not from a backup) and had mislaid the Lexmark CD. I will do
what you suggest, cleaning out with Revo and try another d/load.
Any idea what the 'Disregard folder is for on the local disk ? This is where
the printer prog sticks when it scans the system.

    Remove that too.
And check manually, for leftover bits, even the likes of Revo don't always get everything.

I'd guess it's got itself in knots over the top of itself.

That folder has the name Graha, did somebody with name Graham use the computer?

Maybe someone started a new user profile and that is the old one or perhaps password was forgotten and was forced to use a new password.

Graham is My name. No other person has ever used this computer since
leaving manufacture and the only account created is for me as administrator.
Thanks for interest. I am looking for more info online and will come back later.
I am particularly interested in what the heck that 12.8GB folder is and why is
it there. Will also be removing the printer drivers and reinstalling but I don't
expect that to cure the problem. Thanks.

I should add that I have exhaustively search my Prog Files and can find
nothing related to that Disregard folder by name or by the date/time stamp.

No, you need to remove the entire printer, software, drivers, all of it.
And re-do it as per the instructions.

Disregard folder (12.8GB) shows sequentially multiple
other folders including USERS, APP DATA,PROG FILES, Win SYS32
none of which can be opened.
That sounds like a duplicate - an old profile...........remove it.

Wish I knew how to get rid of it I'm sure that would solve the issue but
I have tried deleting the folder and subfolders via context menu a few
times without success. It causes Windows Explorer to crash and has to
be restarted. How else can I nuke it?
