1st thing I'd do is make a complete backup image of your Computer as it is right now, so it can be put back if required.
Got a feeling that the Disregard folder is actually doing something - Reason (in bold in the Quote) Could be wrong, But that's why I suggested a Image of your system first.
You can try starting in safe mode and see if it deletes OR ( kind of hesitant to even suggest this) so WARNING don't blame me if it all turns to custard. Do it at YOUR own risk.
