Wish I knew how to get rid of it I'm sure that would solve the issue but

1st thing I'd do is make a complete backup image of your Computer as it is right now, so it can be put back if required.

Got a feeling that the Disregard folder is actually doing something - Reason (in bold in the Quote) Could be wrong, But that's why I suggested a Image of your system first.

You can try starting in safe mode and see if it deletes OR ( kind of hesitant to even suggest this) so WARNING don't blame me if it all turns to custard. Do it at YOUR own risk.

Thanks Wainui. I do full backup incl sys image to ext drive every weekend using Macrium.
Have downloaded 'Delete On Reboot' and will run it tomorrow. I just can't think what that 'Disregard'
folder is and how it got there, just know its problematic. Will come back and report result. thanks for link.

You mentioned that you did a fresh re-install, maybe it is the remains of your last operating system before the upgrade, 12 Gig sounds about right for the o/s without personal files.

No progress made. Cannot delete that rogue folder in 'Safe Mode' nor with the 'Delete on Boot' prog
which does work on other folders. Thoroughly removed all items relating to Lexmark, cleaned up with
Ccleaner, WinOptimizer, Smart Defrag etc and rebooted.
Tried fresh installs of the Lexmark software package from CD and a download but no difference made.
Tried again with antivirus prog and Win Defender turned Off - no joy.
Will just use it with the current limitations for now but will search further for a resolution and if successful
will come back and lket you know. Meantime, Thanks for replies, Blanco

You should try taking ownership of the folder and sub-folders then delete it.

Going round in circles with the Permissions process, getting access denied popups etc.

Just curious, the "Disregard folder " folder, is that a hidden folder. If the computer is crashing when you try to delete it, then the system is using it still.

Since Delete on reboot wont move it to me that's saying its a System folder somehow still in use.

When the OS was reinstalled, did you wipe the drive completely clean or install over the original install ?

What you do is boot the computer from a Linux CD/DVD, navigate to the folder on the C Drive and delete it, then reboot back in windows.

Had to do that a few times when programs like Avast/AVG or Trend bugger-up and cant be removed normally.

Yes, or boot from another user which will work if it's just tied to your profile.

Piroska: You are a darling. As you suggested, created a 2nd user account
and logged in with that. Selected all the hitherto non functioning elements
of my printer and all worked perfectly well. That will do for me - Chuffed.
Now I can get on with some print tasks - Great!
Still bewildered by that obstinate folder but thanks to this forum again I am
back on the road again. By the way, what has happened with Speedy?
