gmail attached video files won't play

Gmail video attachments in win 10 throw up an error "Couldn't preview file etc" when clicked on. You have to download the vid then run it. Bit of a fag and is a bigger problem for the less knowledgeable.

Does it for Edge and Chrome. Google hasn't helped me find an answer.

Wondering if this is a post Flash problem??

Any ideas?

Its a google / gmail problem, NOT a browser.

Just replicated it.

Just sent the same mail to my gmail and Outlook.com web based accounts, the One in gmail didn't want to play, yet opening it in Outlook.com no problems what so ever.

Download it, scan it then play it.

Thanks, WT, for your help. The advice in the reference sent is good, namely, set the file to open automatically. Especially important for my wife's comp as she sees the computer more as an enemy than a friend!!

Still seems a bit odd Google thinks download and run is better than click and autorun. Guess they have their reasons.

So, how is that different from downloading and clicking the file? How is that different from clicking docs, jpgs etc and having them open directly?

The video attachments have to be looked at and have to be OK'ed by clicking the Download button.
