Without wishing to appear uncaring it would be interesting to know what the normal expected rate of deaths in old person homes is. People are there because they have reached the stage of life where they can no longer care for themselves and as sad as it is for those near to them they will all end up departing this world anyway.

Pretty much, yes. As THEY say.....whenever I say in x years, this or that, my mum says oh I won't be here.

It's not callous, it's reality. Like Clivem says.........

Health of Older People in New Zealand: A Statistical Reference

It has long been recognised that mortality rates increase exponentially at older ages.
Deaths from other circulatory disorders, stroke, respiratory diseases and cancer also increase with age,

Today the life expectancy of someone in a rest home while receiving government funding is 1.7 years, 2017/18 Ministry of Health figures show

"Rest home owners will tell you that people entering a rest home now are in a poorer state of health than what they used to be. I spoke to one rest home owner who'd been in the business for 30 years. When he first started, he said people drove their cars and they needed parking spaces for residents' cars. Today nine times out of 10 they'll arrive in an ambulance," he said.

"A third of deaths annually in NZ are in rest homes and while people have always died in this setting, the numbers are increasing along with the expectations of family and whanau and those pastoral needs are placing more pressure on already scant resources," he said. Really sad to see the number increased day by day. And it is really important for social distancing and avoid unnecessary gatherings. The virus is so smart and many of positive cases has no symptoms.

    Those stats are from 2017/18.

So, no real increase in deaths in old people homes now.

Here's a google map on how close the Huanan market is to a Virology lab that specializes in Coronavirus research:

It has been said that it's just down the road but it's not really!

It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

Now I see it is hate china time.
And investigation must be done, says Aussie, UK etc...

Well where did the 1918 flu come from? The US.
Plus they were able to have another war 20 years after, guess it hadn't killed enough people off then.

Viruses have been and will continue to be around, where-ever they might originate. They mutate, it's why we get colds, it's a different variant every time. Ditto flu. Ditto these ones.
Must we shut down the world every time now? When we didn't before? We also had less people before.
Money isn't more important karameadvae but it sure does impact on people. You can't live well without it.

    And that kills people too.
