A large glass is is only half the treatment. If the glass contains less than half a "reputed quart" bottle of Scotch, then you weren't achieving the desired level of pre-haggis medication. An established rule of thumb is that if you can walk, or see the haggis, more medication is required.
This explains why on Saturday nights in Glasgow large numbers of Scotsmen can be seen zigzaging along the pavements - it's just the required aperitif before supper.
