Default The great Aussie icon - The Holden Brand

This link from 2013 is interesting in showing the problems GM had in making the Holden in 2013

It has been a long sad story for years. It is a wonder that GM didn't quit years ago when they stopped making the cars.

Bit of a bummer it was part of your identity if you were Holden or Ford (talking about real kiwis who were born here not gays and imports).
The good ol days you were Ford or Holden, Lion or DB drinker, National or labor. Me Ford DB and National.
Its amazing how Potatoes give us chips, fries and Vodka.

Never understood the point of a Holden.
They’re just rebadged whatevers: Opel, Daewoo, Isuzu etc.

I'm not bothered at all that Aussie no longer makes any. Most were junk too. Friends had a Opel/Holden and a Daewoo/Holden. Both caused endless problems.

My Dad was always a holden man, and when my parents separated after all the kids left home he starting buying them. After 3 lemons in a row he stopped mentioning holden and started buying ford.

For me personally it's Toyota, Waikato, and all politicians are pricks. The one holden I ever owned was the least reliable vehicle in my 35 years of owning cars, many of which were not great either.

Ah fond memories, UC sunbird with a holden 202 engine in it. In six months it went through 3 engines, stripped a timing gear, stripped the gear of the bottom of the distributor, had new lifters, threw a rod through the side of the engine - wrecker said don't worry about that noise it's only gudgeon rattle. That's how I found out what gudgeons are and why gudgeon rattle is not something to ignore.

Not that I think all holdens are rubbish, just that a lot of them were and people didn't seem to notice.

LOL, not sure Ford is much better. Husband had a Ford Rodeo once. He loathed Ford ever after.

I'm a Blue Oval boy and every Commodore since the AU has been a better buy. Ford lost their way and like Holden, deserve to die.
