Looks like the forum DB is on the fritz again. OP comes up blank when you click on the thread.

    Hello
I am looking to buy a new large internal hard drive as my present one(s) is getting a bit full.

Most of my drives have been Seagate with no issues.
    They have several ranges
    Barracuda
    Iron Wolf
    Enterprise (exos)
    Sky Hawk

They don't really say what is the difference.
I just need one with fast data transfer but only 12 hour a day use.

Some drives say they are NAS compatable what does that mean for me, as I don't want a NAS drive?
Do they have extra connectors or are they faster or slower?

I'm looking at the 12 or 14 TB size as I have a lot of data. (mainly word processing files)
So what colour is your Adkaf?

If it's just every day storage you're after the Barracuda series will be just fine.

A Western Digital Blue drive is also a good option.
    Ryzen 2700X, 16Gb DDR4RAM, 512GB M.2 NVME SSD, MSI GTX1070

    Thanks for those suggestions.
I want fast data transfer and reliable.
But not being used all day, but I like to leave them on 24/7

I think most of my drives have been Barracudas.
I'll check them out again and the WD Blue.

    .
Ask your self how much you want to spend
SSD is the fast & reliable option , or an Enterprise HD

General Retail HD's are all pretty much average .
    Avoid the WD Greens
WD Blues are quite reliable on average , nothing special speed wise
WD Black should be faster . Will you notice the speed difference though ?

Seagate seem to have had more issues than WD over the last few years , from comments Ive seen on forums .
