I have. Not getting into a discussion about the rights and wrongs of cracked software. You use it at your own risk. ( and on your own to fixing problems)

As quoted from superuser.com relating to cracks:

crack tools are detected as malware or viruses because, by definition, they are. Their specific purpose is to modify programs and files so that they don't work as designed. They delete verification files, modify registration status and do whatever they can to make their target not work as intended.

Even though the crack allows you, the user, to use the program for free (ie you are achieving your goal with the program and making it work as you intend it to), AV doesn't care about that. If some program wants to edit another one (or edit system files), it fits the definition of what malware is.
So with Eset detecting the cracked exe as an infection = it is.

obviously it is best not to tell everything.
Wrong again Theres been MANY times when dealing with people trying to figure out what the hell they have done or whats gone wrong, then they say something like -- "Oh BTW, I altered / Deleted {insert what it is} That wouldn't have caused the problem would it" -- {Answer} ( thinking to myself) Oh $$&%*^ Had you have said that an hour ago you wouldn't have just wasted your money, and the invoice would have been less.

Unless you had someone go through the code , LINE BY LINE & literally reverse engineered it, you'll never know whats in the crack. Just because AV shows it as clean means nothing .
But its usually the sites you download from & the keygens that cause infections .
Cracks found on PC's is a tell tail sign of a PC thats probhably a mess

Way back, I used to crack my Bought & paid for games , as the anti piracy code in the game often actually made the game run slower :-)

All good guys. The thread wasn't about cracked .exes anyway and I note no one has commented on what I said about finding 'cracks' in hired games
As for the game it was not a downloaded / pirated game. It was a game a mate had bought and made a copy of it which is legal for him to do and he gave it to me. I tried to 'crack' the exe myself with an app I cannot the name of now that I got but my knowledge was not up to it so I searched and found one on the net.
So, back to the purpose of the thread: the lady has her computer up and running as it should. The 'Wingle' she uses at the moment to get Internet at her home she only uses when she goes to her villa in Bella Horizonte, Uruguay for 2 months in a year. At her home in Montevideo she has a WiFi Modem to collect/send signal to her Tablet So we can say the thread is closed. Thanks to all for your suggestions and help.
Now as the thread got swung into Antivirus Protections, I have changed from Comodo Int Sec and am currently using Bitdefender Free to test it and it seems to be fine. (Leaves my patched 'exes alone) and I tried Kaspersky Free trial and that is fine too. Am trying to decide on which one to get .... Bitdefender Total Security 2020 is being offered at 60% discount but the ends in 4 hours so I was going to ask the Pros here which of the two programs would you recommend..Bitdefender Total Security 2020 or Kaspersky Total Security...Kaspersky has 40% discount at the moment

    https://www.bitdefender.com.au/solutions/

    https://www.kaspersky.com.au/total-security

Thanks in advance.. I am leaning towards getting the Bitdefender Total Security 2020

Decided and bought the Bitdefender Total Security 2020. Waiting for "a second email containing your product along with the activation and installation instructions".
Haha I asked at the Bitdefender Forum how can the app be got for a non English version... Spanish for instance. I haven't had a reply to my question yet. I tried to contact Customer Support by email, clicked to do that and only had a spinning circle going nowhere. Maybe the Language version is chosen automatically from the Country where the person is living when they buy the product online just as I have done. But,,, I could be living in the USA and that is multi cultural and languages. Who knows..... I was going to suggest my friend in Uruguay gets the product to replace the Comodo IS she has at the moment.
