Default Linux hosts on AWS EC2 - Free Tier

I plan to get more familiar with Linux side of things and spin up some CentOS VMs to do some self training.

I briefly looked at VirtualBox option to go local route and also keen on trying Amazon Web Service.

Has anyone used the Free Tier AWS EC2 to create VMs and any thoughts experiences on it ?

I think the limitation of Free Tier wont be a factor as I am just after some basic VMs with no real compute/hourly usage.

But then i again I m not sure what other limitations of Free Tier option maybe there to cause hindrance

    Thanks

I think I had one for a while before my free tier ran out. Didnít make enough use of it.

Iíd prefer to run Linux at home (hyper-vm running on windows 10). Gives me more flexibility...or a raspberry pi.

The advantage of hyper-v though is no Costa

Thought of using Sandbox in Windows 10? Only thing is that if you turn the computer off you will lose all the work you have done.

Just use Hyper-V on Windows 10, download the CentOS iso and install in Hyper-V, it runs fine.

Only real "problem" is you have to have W10 Pro to run Hyper-V, ( unless MS have changed it) if you only have home then you need a separate VM

Just a thought - You may have to enable virtualization in the BIOS as well. Many have it turned off.

For Linux, Windows Subsystem for Linux would be the way to go rather than Sandbox.
