    Default Supposed updated Versions

The other day Piriform Update Checker said iTunes 9.6 was available compared to my installed version 9.5-full name 9.5.7.
I took this at face value and downloaded the update. When I went to install it up came an error message "a later version is already installed".

I then went to iTunes direct and checked for updates. Was told iTunes is up to date with the latest version 9.5.7.

Later I went on MajorGeeks website which is also advertising iTunes 9.6.
In case of "hours delay" I rechecked iTunes directly and had confirmed 9.5.7 still was latest version

Can anyone advise me how come both MajorGeeks and Piriform can advertise an update 9.6 which does not exist per iTunes.?

Errrrrrrr is it the older style install or the New App Version (or what OS) you are referring to ?

I'd imagine Apple, like many software vendors, stagger their software rollouts so that their servers don't melt when everyone decides to get the update at the same time.
Majorgeeks etc probably get it off a local CDN and the one closest to us hadn't picked it up yet.

    Why?
Rule 1: Don't fix it if it isn't broken.

Now if you had version 4 or something, maybe. BUt all these bitty updates? So what.

What until others have fully tested it first .

itunes 9.x is over 8 years old. So much for Piriform Update Checker
    http://www.oldversion.com/windows/itunes/

It may be so old on your PC that its no longer supported for updates. Go to the Apple website & download the latest version if you want it updated.
Or are you still using WinXP , perhaps your version of Win doesnt support newer Itunes ?

Going from v9 to v12 there will be a lot of changes
