best one I had was PC would shut off. They bought it in and I couldn't find a fault. They insisted it was PSU, so I swapped it with workshop one as a test for them.
Nope, theirs continued to randomly shut off, workshop one happy.

So I said, as he lived in Mt Albert - you own an old villa?
    Yep.
    had any work done lately?
    Yep, electrician.

Ahah, I suggested he get a new electrician, not that one.
he said funny, he'd taken a VCR in, same issue and tech had said VCR was fine.

Both these things were in the room that had the electrical work done.

My 2 assistants at that PC place were amazed...I said it's just common sense. If the PC isn't faulty...well.....

Maybe its not so Common thinking in some peoples thoughts

Just finished sorting out a persons PC whom I built 3 years ago, complete random shutdowns over 4 months roughly. Because they live quite a way from me I was trying various things over the phone and remote. Of course couldn't do any hardware changes In the end it got to a point that it would crash (or could make it) so then said right, now we can sort it, once I had it here - changed power supply and bingo all good.

What made it crash every time actually seems like a software problem, every time you started using Chrome it would crash after a minute or so, no BSOD, no lockups,no logs, just as if someone pulled out the power cord. Did a fresh install on one of my drives, ran a stress test overnight, all fine, installed chrome - BAM! crashes, changed the PSU hasn't crashed since. Did some searching and its actually quite common.
Update / Upgrades = Replace old bugs with new ones.
