Default Living down a long driveway has it's advantages

We are the middle house of three down a long driveway and it is quite a walk from the street which possibly explains why we have very few salesmen and other door knockers calling.

But of the very occasional one that does call I tell them that they are talking to the wrong person. SWMBO is the one who looks after the finances in this family and she is at work at the moment. When they ask what is a good time to catch her at home, I tell them to call after seven. That's when she will be free. We have yet to have anyone call back. It seems that is too late for them.

I lived on aback section. Until I added the sign, we still got door knockers.
Ours was only house down it though, sharing with others - shudder.....depends on the neighbours, but you never know who you will end up with

When you get neighbors parking on the shared driveway, and blocking it, rather than park next to their house, then living down a long drive becomes a pain.

Hmm share driveway had one of those, the drug dealers got a surprise when I parked my old truck behind all their buyers and went for a hours walk leaving them all stuck at the dealers house behind ours. Now we live on a long lane that goes to a farm and have 3 neighbours at the moment on a good day and with a following wind you might be able to hear them. It is as good as you can get, suburbs living sucks everyone crammed in together no thanks.

So far 10 chickens, 2 cats, 5 horses (not ours but belong to neighbour), soon to have sheep as have a very friendly young Shepherdess who comes to visit SWMBO regularly wishes to run some here for a few weeks. No money changes hands but frequent alcoholic beverages often appear on the doorstep, or parts of dead animals can be found in the freezer which is out in the unlocked shed, barter is awesome out this way.

My very word it does: If you don't live down the driveway you have to sleep in the letterbox

    We had chooks.
    And cats.
I had a horse once, horses chew up the land though, running about with their hooves.....

Even in Wyndham we had that...not the alcohol, I don't drink, but venison, trout, lady round the road bred rabbits and we got them often. Neighbour boy used to shoot geese on farm he worked on part time, we had a few of those too. His mum used to get a cow done, and when she got down to the mince and stew, she'd bring it over to me. Said she didn't bother eating "that rubbish".
    Good for me...

I got paid in venison for one computer job I did, I wasn't going to charge anything but he pulled a pack out and very yum it was too
