    Default Living allowance, livable?

So I get my updated child support notice today. All good, no issue with that.
But I notice that IRD calculates the living allowance as $19,867.00 which equates to $382.05 a week.
Seriously, can people live comfortably on that these days?

But isn't that figure the amount needed for a child to live in an existing household?

You think that's not much! What about living on the pension? $520 a fortnight. And you think you have problems!

If that is what you are getting as a single person living alone then you are being ripped off Roscoe, you should be getting around $780/fortnight.

There can be accommodation benefit on top of that if you don't have your own place, up to $180/wk I think.

Also you should be getting $20/wk heating allowance for the colder months of Winter, Yay Labour.

NZ now like a Commie state everyone has their hand out. Once upon a time in NZ we immigrants from the British Isles worked for a living. Now we let people from Somalia live here and pay them for it.

From memory it was because of the conditions in your native country for the poor and injured that the unemployment benefit and universal superannuation was introduced by the early governments of NZ.
