On radio NZ News we are "reliably informed" that "Kākā chicks have hatched, and successfully fledged, for the first time at Abel Tasman National Park."
I'm not sure just where the chicks will go for their second and subsequent hatching and fledging endeavours, but hopefully - now they've got the hang of it . . . .

Being in the media, the reporters naturally try & make things as Ambiguous as possible.
Its only their job, why expect them to be good at it

why don't they put them on Little Barrier or some other Island with no people, sticking them on the mainland is so pointless, ditto the kiwi. They end up dead.
