Cool Why Can't Android Talk To Linux?

I would like to take and give files and such between my Android tablet and any of my Linux-based 'puters.

Is it possible? All I get now on my desktop home screen is a question if I want to use my tablet as a camera.

That'd be cool, but I want more data transfer too.

You may have to install something in Linux ( wouldn't be surprised) When connecting to a Windows PC with USB, it detects the device, then on some Android devices you have an option on how to use the Connection, either charging or File transfer.

No Idea if the following will help but doing a google search brings up quite a few similar suggestions. https://superuser.com/questions/1210...droid-6-device

I just connected my Sony Xperia tablet to a laptop with Linux Mint 19.
A icon popped up on the screen with the tablet model number.
When I clicked on that, a window opened offering me to view internal storage or SD card.

Might depend on what version of Linux too.

Let me go back and try all three of my L-distros and see - but if I remember - I think I tried that already.

The only option I get it to use my tablet as a remote camera for my L-based system.

Perhaps try another usb port or another cable.
What happens if you plug in a usb memory stick?

Using it as a camera may actually do exactly what you want, cameras can transfer files back and forth after all and I can do that in windows with my android phone connected as a camera.
It may just be the mode it's using.

As a test (and because I remembered I actually run linux on one of my machines while typing this) I went and plugged my samsung phone into a machine running Mint and it opened straight into the nemo file browser and let me browse the contents once I allowed it on the phone pop up.

Oh, it sees USBs all well and good.

Hmmmmmm. I don't get any file browser, just that it wants to know if it can use the tablet as a camera.

Let me get to this after dinner - the wife is making pizza with dough from her bread machine ... Canadian bacon, black olives, diced mushrooms, Genoa salami and some sweet Italian sausage.

Pouring hot olive oil on it right now - so you'll pardon....(munch) ---- (crunch) --- (snarffel).......me....
