LOL you're still saying it was pointless and yes it is basicly
But i was tired of waiting 2 min for the desktop to load or basic functions to be fanctional plus i got the knowledge of basic overclocking. Now it's much better and a lot faster to use.

Doesn't matter how you look at it really.
If you need to tow a caravan, you need a car with a bigger engine.

in cpu z click the spd tab and see what timings they should be at. 319 MHZ would be underclocked. DDR 2 should usually be running at 400 (which is 800 the usual rated speed of most ddr2)
What brand of ram sticks are they?an you open things up and read the stickers

also please read the link i posted above it explains everything you need to get things working

    In this case it is.
Going from approx 2.6 to 3.8 isnt going to make a huuuge difference , in real world av usage (not gaming).
Its really clutching at straws , hoping an overclock will fix a slow PC .
    :-)

I'd bet : better results with a new HD(or SSD) and a wipe & reload. And more RAM
Or just spend $200 and buy a used i5 PC.
Unless you have lots of time to waste trying to make a high overclock stable on a old PC

Its not pointless at all, 2.6 ghz to 3.8 is nice performance boost especially on that CPU if you are doing gaming and playing older games. A free speed boost just from doing a little research and tinkering and LEARNING something new.

What are the other specs of the pc? Which os? windows 7 or 8 or 10?

Windows Xp runs nice and snappy at 4 GHZ !

You are vey right just a bit of OC and i see massive difference at the loading times.....
The rest of the specs are :
    Gpu: gtx 470 2Gb
1 small 320gb HDD and it's running with Windows 10.
the cpu is now clocked at 3.3Ghz and it's stable and solid with max load and temps just below 60C and an avg of 50C after stabalizing.
