We have just had Vodafone replace our modem and router, the technician replaced all the old details on 2 desktops, laptop and tablet, but not cellphones. Daughter had to put the details into her modern cellphone. Ours might be toooo antiquated, rofl.

    lurking.

    so little info ...so

it could be almost anything causing that
fault with ph, config issue with ph, fault with netgear, config issue with netgear
Is the ph in the same room as the netgear, how many wifi devices in use , whats the internet speed/reliabity via cable on a PC
    could be channel incompatibilities
    is this via 2.4 or 5.8 ?
any other wifi AP's , any other gear using 2.4Ghz (cordless ph's, repeaters, TV vid senders , wifi/wireless cameras)

start by resetting up the wifi, with another channel & a new SSID(important)
try turning off 2.4Ghz then try turning off 5.8Ghz on the netgear

    again .. so little info

have you tried IN THE SAME ROOM as the netgear ?

does your phone see your wifi (ssid) or not
does the ph see the wifi but cant connect, or connects to the wifi but no internet

    2.4G or 5.8Ghz , or dont know
is the ph really old .
does the phone work on other peoples wifi

Do you know how to change settings on the netgear ? change wifi channel to 6 (2.4ghz) ,change wifi name (SSID) make sure 2.4 & 5.8 are enabled in the netgear (if applicable)

either the ph is faulty, incompatible or in need of a reset/wipe

That is turned on, on the phone? If so can you see yours or any other wifi networks on that phone? If so try to connect the phone to your wifi again starting from scratch putting in your wifi password and see what happens.
I am assuming that as your other devices connect to your wifi correctly that the problem is with the phone not your wifi setup.
You could also check that the phone can or cannot connect to a local free wifi network in a shopping mall or MacDonalds or a friendly neighbours one. Another possibility is to get your local mobile provider to check the phone out for you.
None of that is convenient if you live out in the sticks.
As pointed out by 1101 make sure your phone is set to receive on the 2.4Ghz and or 5.8Ghz band. The same band the router is set to.
