It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

No plastic bags is working out so well for me

I keep forgetting to take bags with me to the supermarket, so I have to buy the 15c big plastic bag . Im building up a collection
This also means Im buying less at the supermarket , as even if I remember to take my bags , Im considering not buying more than will fit in the bags I have , or will fit in the bag I need to buy

And , instead of using grocery bags for rubbish, I'm using bread bags . No bans on single use bread bags .

I've used reusable bags for years, even before now, without issue.

There's no real problem here unless you decide to make one for yourself.

I kind of agree, except I'm forgetful and that's not a decision. I even decided to permanenty leave some bags in the boot of my car so I would stop forgetting to take them with me and I still get to the checkout before it even enters my head most times. I also walk to the supermarket to get lunch most days, and stopped buying reusable bags after I got to 3 of them on my desk.

I just seem to do a lot of things on autopilot and have to go out of my way to break my routine to prompt a memory of something I was supposed to do, used to get me in a lot of trouble in a previous relationship. Apparently forgetting to pick up some milk on your way home is the same as not caring about someone?

I'm using one of those new world occasionally reusable bags. It's actually lasted me longer than expected, but there's no way of double bagging a box of beer anymore. The Speights Old Dark doesn't have any handles on it, so carry that and and another bag makes skipping a song on my ipod a hassle.

I agree, I’m sick and tired of this Green BS.

I could well be one of the biggest Environmentalists on this forum, but I have no time for the handling of associated problems.

All the Government and Local Government can come up with is, “Introduce a Fee”.

The fee winds up in some shiny arse’s pocket and we still haven’t fixed the problem.

Let’s look at a couple of examples.

Tauranga has made a big deal about Glass Bottles. Yes they have increased the rates, and supplied bins for one to put one's bottles in. Great, but the Bin is not allowed to be full, (Health & Safety) they say, and nothing different is going to happen to it.

Well why doesn’t the Green Government, at National Level, organise large commercial bottle crushers and turn the bottles back to sand, where it can be used as Roading Material when mixed with Asphalt, or, put it back where it came from.

When people really cared, Councils would have one or two Inorganic Rubbish Collections every year. This would give the residents an opportunity to get rid of inorganic rubbish they had accumulated and wouldn’t fit in a rubbish bin.

The joke with this is that “One Man’s Junk is another Man’s Treasures” and the Rubbish Man never got to see half of what was put kerbside.

Bottom line, it kept places tidy.

But if you are a true Environmentalist and are happy to take any Junk to Dump (Transfer Station), so it can be dealt with professionally, then you better take your wallet too. Take a look at these fees for encouraging Environmentalists. Remember, they have already been paid (via Rates) for weekly Bag Collection and Bottle Collection.
