Helping this old friend of mine who forgot his gmail password. He could login to his gmail from his old laptop (it's saved in IE)
He now wants to login to Gmail from another computer but he can never recalled the password.
Please help.

Sorry about that, I should have checked more carefully.
Hopefully this is more applicable, note that the method for win 7 and win 8.1 are quite different

That's to setup Windows Vault to store the credentials so we could retrieve it late on.
I want to retrieve the stored (saved) password.
So this bit is NOT what you want?
Step 1: Download NirSoft’s IE PassView from here, a free software to view and backup passwords saved in Internet Explorer browser.Step 2: Extract the downloaded zip file to get IE PassView executable and then double-click on the same to run it.Step 3: Upon running IE PassView, it will scan the browser for saved passwords and displays URLs, usernames and their passwords.
From the link I posted earlier.

Will discuss with my friend tomorrow. He is 82 years old.
That hasn't worked in W7 for a while now. BUT there is a way I've used in the past, its a bit "mickey mouse" but sometimes gets the job done.
1st install Firefox -- When it offers to import favorites and passwords logins allow it making sure passwords are selected.
If FF is already installed, go to Bookmarks (along the top -assuming the menu options are there) -- Show all bookmarks -- import and backup - import data from another Browser --Select IE,make sure all are ticked.
Once imported - go to Tools - Options -- Privacy and Security - Save Logins:
Bottom Right - click show passwords - Click yes -- All the imported user names and passwords in full view![]()
