    Default Can you identify these...?

The tree is over 4 metres tall, the "fruit" is similar in size to a very large grape. It has a spongy feel, has a large pip, very soft flesh, and smells sort of grassy and vaguely sweet.

The leaves do look like plums.
If you really want to be certain though, take that leaf and fruit down to your local garden centre, they'll tell you.

Amnesia International, remembering for those that can't.

No trees were harmed in the making of this post but a few electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Well bugger me george, I would never in a thousand years thought it might be a plum. But evidence is indicating it could well be. Wikipedia shows the leaf almost identical to a mirabelle variety of plum, which comes in a small yellow sort of fruit. I sure hope this is right cos the tree is loaded with the things, and I love plums. But I'll check with the greengrocer first before I risk tucking in.

    Thanks for the replies.

    A Greengage plum?
A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!

Zippity said greengage plum. When I was a kid we had both greengage and yellowgage plums growing. I loved the fruit from both but the yellow ones were softer and a bit sweeter. Check out yellow gage plum.
