What a lot of hassles. Doesn't Auckland have overhead Cables these days ?

Normally around here the Fibre is underground as well ( the main cable is and even then they simply pushed it through along the front of houses, under drives - no problems at all).
The New Neighbor just got Fibre put on, The guys from chorus simply ran the cable up the Telephone Pole, then strung a cable to their House, all done and dusted within an hour. Easy to maintain when required and no hassles.

We were so pleased with the door guys I gave them nice feedback which apparently they have put up on their facebook page.
Well worth the cost.

And the bike lady, how awesome is that! And that will be a big help when it gets here.

But you choose to ignore those happy things I mention and pay attention to only the bad.

Overhead is generally only an option where it already exists. If there are overhead wires in the area and a convenient pole nearby they will use it, if the area is all underground they will not normally go overhead.
There are good and bad fibre installs happening, it's unfortunate you ended up with one of the bad ones. Only thing you can do if you want fibre is to either keep at them until something happens or change providers and ask for fibre again - but the odds are if you do that you may still end up with the same contractors again. Whatever ISP you use the fibre install still falls to the local UFB contract which it seems is chorus in your area.

As already mentioned Chorus contract this work out, and the contractors often subcontract it again due to the work volumes. If you complain enough to Chorus they will hopefully come down on the contractors to get it sorted out and with a bit of luck somebodies boss will apply a boot somewhere.

My experience with this sort of service is to keep on stating facts, don't give up, escalate, try your local paper ask if anyone else has these sort of problems. Don't get too involved emotionally, treat it like a game. A game you are willing to keep up for a very long time, in the end they will give up, just to avoid the publicity and hassle!

LOL< I think it was the other way around, they waiting on me to give up.
But I wnet back and said cut the asphalt, we will get it fixed ourselves, not you fix it.
They are consulting on that again now.

Awfully cheap compared to the usual.

I am aware cheap ones won't last as long which isn't necessarily off putting, but then I don't want dodgy either though.

Not sure yet how used the one we are getting is....
