All those Samoans and Tongans sure can't pay their own airfares to come over and play for the so called national team

Gary has a point. Funding is a problem for them.

Here's an article from the Herald of July 2016 that touches on the problem of funding and future plans. Future plans including being a possible Islands team based in Auckland, although the article claims both Fiji and Tonga could host any Pacific tournaments in their own rights and on their own soil.

Worth a read for a balanced analysis:

"it is not sport when the probable outcome is skewed by who can throw the most money at it."

"you mean like so many other "sports""

The difference in the America's Cup is that the big spenders tend to be very wealthy men on an ego trip,

being rich enough to fund the sport you are passionate about doenst make on an ego tripper

Perhaps you need to look inwards , being jealous of the rich & successful is the sort of attitude that will keep NZ in the hole that its in .
We should celebrate those who have made millions, rather than belittling them or taxing them out of existence.

Plenty of football(soccer) clubs owner by millionares . Plenty of US major league sport teams owned by millionaires .
Plenty of the very rich supporting NZ teams (with cash)
