    Default Linux network connection isses

Using Linux mint on an old core 2 duo machine and although the wi-fi connects and gets good signal strength the network connection keeps breaking. The wi-fi isn't dropping, it stays connected, but traffic just randomly stops working until I disconnect and reconnect. Tried Linux MINT serena and Kubuntu 16.04 LTS and they both have the same issue. Remix OS is fine though (Android for desktop), haven't tried windows. It's a TP-link TL-WN822N usb adapter and is generally rock solid on other windows based machines. Neither local network shares or internet access will work when this happens and it's very frequent.

    Any thoughts?

Never mind, looks like I may have fixed it. Found instructions on how to replace the default driver, wrote a small essay in the terminal, and now it appears to work.
Still not a fan of so much command line hi-jinks, but starting to look like a real OS.

Just googling looks like the default Linux drivers are crap, and the cause of the problems for many people.
One thing positive about Windows 10 is that there is never a dull moment anymore on ye olde computer
